CONSEQUENCES OF REVOLT OF 1857

  • End of rule of English East India Company.
  • Queen Victoria's Proclamation of 1858
  • BOARD OF CONTROL and COURT OF DIRECTORS were abolished.
  • A SECRETARY OF STATE for India and INDIAN COUNCIL were created.
  • Amry was reorganized. Indians were forbidden to handle arms.
  • Right to adoption was given to Indian rulers. All policies of annexations were brought to an end.
  • GOVERNOR GENERALS were replaced by VICEROYS
