Ans. The causes for overpopulation are as follows:

1) High Birth Rate: Children are born at a very high rate in India due to early marriage, social and religious beliefs, lack of education, ignorance, illiteracy and poor economic conditions.

2) Fall in Death Rate: Improvement in medical facilities, better sanitation, development of education, controlling of natural calamities, etc.

3) Inflow of refugees: The entry of refugees in our country from time to time has also contributed towards the rapid growth of population.
