What is Satire - as used in literature?

Satire:

  • It is the use of various elements such as irony, sarcasm, humour, and ridicule to criticize or mock the foolish behaviour of others.
  • Although the use of satire is often entertaining, it is also often used to bring attention to a particular subject and to promote change

An example is the poem - The Professor by Nissim Ezekiel
