Types of chemical reactions
1. combination reaction
In the combination reaction two or more reactants add up to form a product.
Ex : Burning of carbon forms carbon di oxide.
C + O2 → CO2
2. Decomposition reaction
In a decomposition reaction, one substance breaks down into two or more simpler substances.
Ex: The decomposition of baking soda into sodium carbonate water and carbon di oxide.
2NaHCO3 → Na2CO3 +H2O + CO2
3. Displacement reaction
In a displacement reaction, one element displaces another from a compound and takes its place in the compound.
Ex: The displacement of copper from copper sulphate by Iron.
Fe +CuSO4 → Cu + FeSO4
4.Neutralization reaction
In a Neutralization reaction, an acid reacts with base to form salt and water.
Ex: Hydrochloric acid reacts with sodium hydroxide to give salt and water.
HCl + NaOH → NaCl + H2O
